K-FORCE Battle Bow Building Set Review: AMAZING idea for your Christmas presents list!

Looking for Christmas presents this year? K’NEX is one of our favorite toys to play with. It teaches kids so many valuable skills including problem solving skills, fine motor skills, teaching kids how to work together and follow directions, etc. Some of our best, hands on learning, happens when we pull out our K’NEX bin. Today I am going to show you one of their newer sets, the K-FORCE Battle Bow Building Set. It retails for $27.99 on the online store and shoots up to 75 feet (darts are included)! We received this complimentary set through the Mom Blogs program with K’NEX and my boys were beyond excited to set it up. Waiting until a moment when I could come and supervise and take pictures for this post was near torture for them 😉 Before I move on, make sure to pin this image on your Christmas presents ideas board!

What is the K’NEX K-FORCE Battle Bow Building Set?

The K-FORCE Battle Bow Building Set is essentially a bow and arrow designed out of K’NEX. It comes with 165 pieces and includes 3 foam darts (you can purchase more online if you run out). You can build 4 different items out of it and it includes all the instructions you need, or you can conveniently download them online if you lose them. It is rated for kids ages 8 and up. Once it is constructed, you pull back on the handle (gently) and it “sets” into position. You can then push the trigger to shoot your dart up to 75 feet!

What did we think of it?

Overall, the kids level of excitement for this set was through the roof. They loved every minute of setting it up and then they got to play with it! My two boys are 5 (almost 6) and 8 years old. They put it together with their Aunty Hannah (12 years old). The three of them needed some help. If you have used K’NEX before, you will know that the pieces need to be clicked together all the way, sometimes difficult for little fingers (hence the age recommendation). My 5 year old was so excited to be included but also got a little frustrated when he couldn’t do anything without help. My 8 year old did very well with the instructions. I think even 1 more year he could have done it without help, but it was a bit confusing and he needed a few prompts here and there while we figured out the instructions together.

setting it up

Overall, we got it figured out and then it was time to play with our new Battle Bow! I would say the recommendation was accurate. If your child has been playing with K’NEX they would probably have no problem setting this up at 8 years old. If K’NEX is relatively new to them, some of these sets are a bit complex and they may need some guidance following the steps. It took us about an hour and a half to complete. Though admittedly some of that time was spent breaking apart wars on who got to do what part 😉 My only suggestion would be to make sure you have two sets (if you have kids around the same age). No bow is complete without some costumes and cool poses. Check out our finished product:
