NEWLY REVISED FOR 2017/2018: Who doesn’t love first day of school signs?!?! Especially when they are free! As homeschoolers, I think we sometimes miss out on the fun little milestones and markers that happen when your kids go to school, but it doesn’t have to be that way! This year, I challenge you to take back to school photos with all of your children! Find a cozy little spot, dress them all up, give them a handful of books and snap away! Time flies and these little moments disappear if we don’t make them happen!
This year I was determined to do first day of school signs with the kids, but I wanted something fun and bright and interesting. Last years signs were a black chalkboard background, and while I loved the look of it, my printer didn’t seem to love them as much as I did. It used a TON of ink, so I went back to the drawing board. I decided to design just one with a girl clipart and one with a boy clipart. Instead of pre-writing everything, I left some spaces open for you to type or write in to make it more personal. I also created a speech bubble for your kids to write (or narrate to you) what they want to be when they grow up. I love how they turned out, the background is white and it is much easier to print off.
The new simplified printables can be used by any child in any grade. There is space to write in their name, their grade, their goals, their favourite subject, as well as their height. In the speech bubble you can put whatever you want to however I had my kids write in what they wanted to be when they grow up. These are a lot of fun and you can print them off for each of your kids. They come together in a single PDF so just put your name and email in the box to start your download!
How to use First Day of School Signs
As every printer is different, you will most likely have to play with your printer settings to get it to the size you want, make sure you look at your print preview first so you don’t waste any of that precious printer ink! I DEFINITELY recommend to do them in color! To grab your free download, simply put in your name and e-mail address below and it will be sent directly to your inbox!
