The Seven Day Countdown: A Fun Valentines Day Activity!

Valentines Day is fast approaching! Each year I look for unique ways to make the holiday special not only for my husband and I, but also for our children! I take every opportunity I can get to shower my kids in a little extra love! For us, this holiday means a special day making cookies and writing little love notes to each other. One thing I have always wanted to do is a countdown to Valentines day. The week before (7 days prior) putting little love notes for the kids in unique places I know they will find. I figure it will help them associate when Valentines Day plus they’ll be getting love notes from mom (win-win). Make sure to pin these free Valentines Day cards for later!

Free Valentines Day Cards and the 7 Day Countdown: how does it work?

You can use these cards however you want. I made them not super “kiddish” so you may even want to make fun little valentines encouragement cards for your friends. OR you can use these as the 7 day countdown cards for your kids. All you need to do is write one little love note to your kids on the back of the card each day. The cards are designed to be printed double sided and have a lined background with a cute little heart for your note. I printed mine on 32 lb. paper so that it was a little more sturdy, you could also use card stock. There are dashed lines for you to reference for cutting.

I will be preparing these ahead of time seeing as the last minute stuff just fizzles out with me. They will be in an envelope for each day on top of my fridge, the week before Valentines Day, I will take out the Day 1 cards and put them in hidden little places my kids will definitely find. In their school book, on their breakfast plate, under their pillow, etc. The point is to make it surprising and fun. Write the number counting backwards (ie. 6, 5, 4, 3) so your kids can countdown with you to see how many sleeps until Valentines Day and plan a fun Valentines Day party for them on the last day as something to look forward to!

Print off your Free Valentines Day Cards!

You REALLY want to print these off in color, they are just too darned cute not to! You can print in any window, on an 8.5×11″ sheet of paper, just make sure you either select double sided OR if your printer can’t do that, print off one side, place the paper BACK into your printer, freshly printed side UP and print the second page onto it. Just be sure you test beforehand so you know which direction your paper should be facing!
